Why Have an Electrician Install Your Starlink?

Starlink has made fast internet possible for cabins, lake homes, and rural properties across North Georgia where cable and fiber never reached. The self-install kit works — but how it's mounted, wired, and grounded makes the difference between a tidy, lasting setup and a leaky, lightning-vulnerable one. As a licensed electrical contractor (GA #ER102503), we install Starlink to a higher standard:

Starlink Installation FAQ

Do you install Starlink in Blue Ridge and North Georgia?

Yes. We install Starlink for homes, cabins, lake houses, and businesses throughout Blue Ridge, Fannin County, and North Georgia. As licensed electricians we handle the full professional install — finding the clearest sky location, securely mounting the dish, running a weatherproof cable, adding grounding and surge protection, and setting up your Wi‑Fi. You buy the Starlink kit and monthly plan from Starlink; we do the installation.

Why have an electrician install Starlink instead of doing it myself?

Starlink's self-install kit works, but a professional install protects your home and your investment. A licensed electrician can mount the dish safely at height, run the cable cleanly into the house without leaks, and — most importantly in the lightning-prone North Georgia mountains — add proper grounding and surge protection to local electrical code. We also integrate the connection with whole-home Wi‑Fi so you get coverage everywhere, not just near the router.

Where should the Starlink dish be mounted?

Starlink needs a wide, unobstructed view of the open sky, away from trees, roof peaks, and chimneys. We use the Starlink app's built-in obstruction check to test spots on your property and find the location with the clearest view and the cleanest cable path — commonly a roof, gable, ridge, or a dedicated pole mount. On heavily treed mountain lots, a taller pole or mast is sometimes the best solution, and we can build that.

Does Starlink need to be grounded?

In areas with frequent lightning — which includes the North Georgia mountains — Starlink (SpaceX) recommends appropriate lightning protection installed to your local electrical code, especially for roof- and pole-mounted dishes. As licensed electricians, we install proper grounding and whole-home surge protection so a nearby strike is far less likely to take out your Starlink gear or the electronics connected to it.

Which Starlink kit do I need — Standard or Mini?

For a fixed home the Standard Kit (the current Gen 3 dish with its own Wi‑Fi router) is the usual choice and supports snow melt. The Starlink Mini is a smaller, lower-power dish with a built-in router that's great for compact or portable setups. We install either one — buy whichever fits your needs directly from starlink.com, and we'll handle the mounting and setup.

How much does Starlink installation cost?

Installation cost depends on the mount type and height, how far the cable has to run, and whether a pole or extra grounding is needed — so we give a free, upfront quote after reviewing your property. That install cost is separate from the Starlink hardware and the monthly service plan, which you pay to Starlink directly.

Can you set up Wi-Fi for my whole cabin or house?

Yes. Beyond the dish, we design and install networking and mesh Wi‑Fi so you have reliable coverage across the whole property — including outbuildings, shops, and cabins with thick walls. We can also tie in cameras, smart-home devices, and backup power so your internet stays on during an outage.
